Kairi takku is a spicy pickle made from raw grated mango. Kairi takku though made with same ingredients as mango pickle, it does tastes different and has more crunchy texture to it.

Kairi takku is a spicy pickle made from raw grated mango. Kairi takku though made with same ingredients as mango pickle, it does tastes different and has more crunchy texture to it. To make takku you need the following ingredients: Ingredients for making kairi takku:

Ingredients
  • 8-10 raw mangoes
  • ¼ bowl mustard seeds
  • 1 bowl red chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
  • 1 teaspoon asafoetida
  • ½ bowl sugar
  • 1 bowl oil
  • ½ bowl salt
Instructions
  1. To make kairi takku first peel the skin of the raw mangoes.
  2. Now grate the raw mangoes.
  3. Now heat some oil in a pan add some mustard seeds and asafoetida it and let the mustard seeds pop.
  4. Once the mustards seeds pop turn off the flame and let the oil cool down.
  5. Apply turmeric powder and chili powder and mustard seeds powder to the grated mangoes and keep it aside for ½ and hour.
  6. Fry the fenugreek seeds in oil for 2 minutes and make a powder of it and add it to the mixture.
  7. Now add the oil which we had kept to cool down to the mixture.
  8. Add salt and sugar to the mixture.
  9. Mix well and fill kairi takku it in a clean and dry glass container.
  10. 10. Cover it with an air tight lead.
  11. 11. Now let this kairi takku get matured for one night.
  12. 12. Once the kairi takku is matured you can enjoy it.
